Hello all. I 'm looking for a list of codes that tells what type of gears you have in your rear end. I'm looking to lift my 1997 GMC C1500 up 4". There is a kit thru Fabtech. But I'm not sure what gears to go with in the rear any ideas. Please let me know...................................................Thank you all for your time.

Likey a standard 3.42 but possible a 3.73 but in either case they are both poor choices for big tires with a lift. Figure on a gear ratio change in your budget if you want it to perform properly.

At least a 4.10. If you plan to possibly go with bigger tires yet in the future, you would do well to consider a 4.56. These gears are not as deep as they sound because OD negates them greatly and trucks used to come with 4.10 without the benifit of OD for many years before OD becaime popular in the mid 80's.
