WTB: 96-00 5.7L Vortec(IL)

Looking to buy a 96-00 5.7L vortec out of a fullsize chevy. Doesn't matter what it is out of. Looking for the whole set-up like the computer, harness, all accessories, but mainly need the engine. Anything under 80k miles. I don't need it right away, within the next month, but the sooner the better. Or, does anybody know where i can find one. Local junkyards with good truck parts selection. Im not going to say im desperate, but i really really want one for my s-10. I have looked in the Chicagoland area and the cheapest i could find for everything was 1500. Thanks. Bryan. sounds like a fun project. I don't know anyone in ill. Ya might try lookin for a complete running car for the same $1500 then scavenge the engine and part out the rest. What year S10 is it going in? Maybe you should just buy my Sblazer with a v8 already in it

Oh, its gonna be a fun project alright....after the v-8 is in, im saving for a whipple blower to go on top. I won't be done til i can lift my front tires off the ground...oh, its a reg. cab s-10... :-D

Thats bad @ss. I found a motor though, so i don't need one anymore. 1500 for a complete(accs,ECU,harness) with 32k on the motor. Not a bad deal.

I would ask to see the truck it came out of, I had a yard try and pull a fast on on me.

They said it had 66k and I drove 5 hours to get it and I asked to see the truck and the sales guy in the big office said it was already smashed. I said all right, then I was told to wait for about 1/2 hour while they split the engine and trans, so I figured I would go to the shop and BS with the mechanics. I asked them where the truck was, and he said they just took it back to its "spot" in the yard, and I asked the one guy to show it to me.

He had no idea that the salesman said 66k, so he said here is the truck, it had like 150k, I was pissed, went inside, raised hell, then the salesman said "Where are you going"? I said i was leaving, he said "we pulled that motor for you, you can back out of the deal now", I kinda laughed and walked out.

They actually called me about 1/2 hour later offering me 100 dollars off if I still wanted it.... HAHAHA
