Cb Mounts?

I was just thinking about puttin in a cb, in my new pickup. And was wondering if any of ya could post some pic's of where you mounted the cb. If you could also tell me how and where you ran the coax cable for the antenna. I was thinking about mounting it up top by that little cubby hole. But don't know how I would really do it. Please help, any advice is much appreciated....Thanks...Mike

I am thinking about putting one in mine too. I have the center console and I was thinking about putting it in one of the small glove compartments under the HVAC

Mine has the bench seat in it, and I have always liked the way they look when they are mounted up top. But then again if I mount it up there I am going to have a hard time with the wiring I'd think....Mike

Do you have the cassette deck in the console? I pulled the cassette deck out of the console on my truck and put my CB in the hole left from the cassette. I'd have to look at the exact model I used,but my CB fits like it was made to go there.

I have the Uniden Pro 510XL

no cassette deck, I think they stoped using that spot for casette players in 2002. 03-05 has two empty holes.

Well mine has the cd and cassette in the same unit. I'm trying to search for different installations on silverado's and it looks like everyone is mounting them under the dash. I'm just wondering if I can mount a 29 cobra, it a lot bigger radio then some of these that others are installing. But also i'm wondering if I will be able to run the coax cable to the antenna without cutting or drilling up the cab. I'm also not wanting to run the cable through the door frame, like most people do...Thanks...Mike

No CB, but, a two meter Ham Radio, where the cassette deck used to be. Right under the Ham Radio a power invertor.

I bought a plastic t-hump mount with two cupholders and a speaker. The cb sits right on top, the mic kind of tucks in by the t-case shifter, and I didn't have to put any holes in my truck.

I did a google search for "cb mounts", I can't remember where I bought it. It has those little plastic teeth all around the bottom that hang on to the carpet. It has been working great for about two years now.

Uniden XL Pro (been using it in every truck since 1991) with Dual whips on my tool box (so I can open it and they lay down...since I have inches to the cab in all the parking garages)

I mounted mine to the little unused box just above the rearveiw mirror...fits perfect and looks super sweet! Only grief I ever get s when the wife rides in the jump seat and has to look at the dangling mic wire (I usually just unhook it).

I will take a shot or two and see if I can post them???

I hooked the power wire to my map light wire in the console and grounded it to a screw inside the unused box (compartment) it is attached too.....I ran a single coaxle under the lip of the headliner and down the passenger side A-pillar to a little box under the dash..... the dual coaxle comes into the box through the firewall.....I ran the dual coaxle down the mounting hole in the tool box that sits above the stake pocket...I also grounded each antenna witha wire just because........everyone I have talked to sait that the toolbox makes enough ground sitting on the rails but not too sure I liked the aluminum as a grounding paltform (even though almost all antenna hangars are aluminum).......anyway

the whole setup looks really nice and I really love the CB where it is easily read and I always get compliments too.....

One thing I am looking for a speaker to add to my middle hole in my A pillar mount that will look custom that I can hook into my cb......any ideas????

wilie, that sounds so sweet. If you can please post some pics of the install, because that is where I want to mount mine. I'm wanting to run a cobra 29 classic is that about the same size as the one your running? Thanks a lot....Mike

I have a bench seat and I built a frame using scrap wood so that my CB and portable CD player are stacked ontop of the hump in the floor. I screwed in the mount at an angle so that i can read the meter and channels easy. I run the cords and co-ax up under the dash from there and I have an antenna mounted on the mirror, but i have the old mirrors not the new plastic ones... I pinch the cable in the door near the dash and loop it from the base of the a-pillar out the corner of the hood to the mirror.

For 95-98 body style: You might be able to follow the shifter cable from the dash under the carpet to under the driver's seat where there's a gromet for the shifter cable to the transmission~ You could bring the co-ax up the back of the cab to your toolbox antenna mount or bed rail mount. I haven't a clue what the NBS trucks use for their shifter linkage so you have to find ways to run it outta the cab.
