Mattt Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 The lumbar adjuster on my front drivers seat no longer works. The knob spins, but no lumbar. How is that knob hooked up to the actual lumbar support in the seat back? Is this an easy fix, or do I just live with it?
Mattt Posted June 9, 2005 Author Posted June 9, 2005 Thanks for the reply. Your excellent description got me to looking. Got the seat back apart, and looked up in there. Getting the seat skin apart at the bottom was a bit tough, I was thinking I was going to break the plastic guides. Anyhow,,,,cable is hooked up, however, the tab that the spring hooks onto on the plate has broken off. The spring Im talking about goes in between the cable and the lumbar plate. The tab is part of the lumbar plate. No way to weld the tab back on w/o complete disassembly of the seat, or fire. Ive hooked the spring in another hole, but that makes for some lumbar support all the time. Drove it tonite and decided its too much lumbar full time. back to the drawing board for a fix. Thanks again for the description to get me started.
01silverado2500 Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 the knob has a cable that connects to the knob and a plate located in the seat back. When the knob is turned, the cable is shortened and that bows the plate, which gives you the lumbar support. Just unhook the seat skin on the bottom of your seat in the back and you will be able to see all of this. I lost my lumbar in my drivers seat and when I opened the seat up I found the cable came undone from the plate. Very easy fix, just put the hook back into the hole on the plate and it has been fine ever since.
