Looking for Rims

Hi Guys.

Ok I am currently running 285/75/16's on stock rims and the only rubbing I have is very slight on the rear tires. They slightly rub the top shock bolt if I twist the chasis good(Going diagnal down a ditch). I know everyone else hasn't had rear rubbing issues but I beileve it is due to the autoride shocks on mine. I'm looking at some american eagle wheels that are 16x8 offset is +5mm and backspacing is 4.625.

I have not taken my stock rims off to get a good measurement but from what I can tell they are roughly 16x7 with 5" of backspacing. I'm not real comfortable with rim measurement but from what I can tell these new rims would move the the back of the tire out about 3/4" - 1". Has anyone done a setup close to this? Does 3/4"-1" estimate sound right? By moving the tires out 3/4" inch will I cause clearance issues on the front?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I think you should be fine. Not sure about the differences (if any) to the front wheel wells between a Tahoe and a Silverado, but I think it will work.

To be sure, do this: It will take a little time, but you will know for sure before spending the money.

Measure the distance from your fender to the top of the tire. Jack up the front of your Tahoe and put your jack stands on the frame. Now, put your floor jack under the lower A-arm to raise it to your "ride height" as if it were on the ground. Remove your wheel and put washers on 2 or 3 lugs the distance you need to set your factory wheels approximately the distance the new wheels will be. Install the wheel and hand tighten the lugs.

With the engine off and key on, you should be able to turn your wheel by hand, lock to lock to look for rubbing issues. If you are close, you can raise or lower your floor jack to account for suspension travel when turning to see if you will rub or not. When finished, just reverse the process.

While this is time consuming and not quite an exact science, it will give you a pretty good idea as to if you will have issues or not.

Good Luck and if you get new wheels, be sure to post pictures! :ughdance:

Thanks for the Tip. I think I will try this to get a better idea of how they will look/fit. I do know the front end is the same as a 1500 truck but the rear is slightly different because of the coil springs and autoride. I think the truck will look better with the tires moved out 1" and it will cure my rubbing on the rear shock bolt. I just don't want to create any major clearance problems elsewhere.
