Tahoe gas guzzler

I don't know if this has been beat to death yet or not but here goes. I was wondering what Tahoe owners with the 5.3 are getting for gas mileage? I know it's not an economical vehicle and I'm not complaining about the mileage but I'm just curious if I'm getting unusually low gas mileage. I'm getting anywhere from 13-15 MPG at best highway/town driving not really heavy on the gas pedal. I thought I saw a commercial from Chevy saying the Tahoe was great on gas like 19MPG highway? Was I just dreaming????? :) Thanks in advance for your input.................... :chevy:

New I got 16-18 mpg.

After new larger tires I got 13-15

After westers tune I went back to 15-17.

I believe the stock tires with the westers tune I could get 17-20.

I do 75% highway 25% city driving.

Overall I'm content with my mileage.

in my 04 z71 burb, i get about 13-14 around town and anywhere between 16 and 18 on the highway (@ 70-75 mph) depending mostly on how windy it is and what direction the wind is coming from.

I own a 2004 Tahoe 5.3/3.73. When I burn a tank of gas doing totally highway driving, it is seldom that I get under 18 mpg. Occasionally, I'll get slightly over 20 mpg, but 19 mpg is probably the my average.

Arond town, I'd have to ggo with a 13 mpg average.

My calcuated mpg of all driving shows that I've averaged 16.1 mpg overall.

My 2003 Silverado EC/SB 5.3/3.73 gets amost 1 mpg better mileage than the Tahoe.

Gas Guzzlers? No, not really.

13-15 mpg is the avg that I have. With our altitude, one should not try to compare mileage with those in an "oxygen rich environment". Keep track of your mileage, if it drops from your normal figures then check stuff for problems. Tire pressure, oil age/levels, air filter, fuel filter. I changed my plugs and wires last weekend and probably didn't need to. Only 53K miles, but I'm getting ready to install a Diablo Preadator Sport program, so I wanted everything fresh. (Along with a new air and fuel fliter.)

I have an 01 Tahoe 4x4 w/ 5.3. I get 13-15 average combination city/highway. It drops 1-2 MPG in winter when we go to "Winter Fuel" here in Chicago. On all highway it is TOTALLY dependant on speed. If I average 85mph, I get around 12MPG. If I average 75, I get 14MPG. If I average 65, I get around 16MPG. I tried this on a trip to Florida where I set cruise for a tankful at the above mentioned speeds and tracked 4 tankfuls.

I did get about 1-2MPG drop as my O2 sensors were going bad. After I replaced them, MPG went back up.

I get about 14 to 15 in the city. On the highway, I would say about 16 to 17. But, I am running 33's also. :chevy:
