flexalite fans

I did a quick search to see if anyone else has posted on the flexalite fan recall I didn't find any other posts but then the search feature wasn't working very well?...

I installed my flexalite fan Nov 03 on my 1500hd with the 6.0L engine at first I loved the fans seemed to work well. In Dec the VSC went out so I purchased a cheap controller form an auto parts store and flexalite warranted the VSC for me. Then in July 2004 while in Tulsa, OK (I live in St. Louis, MO) the fans quit working turns out to be the VSC again so I once again stopped in at an auto parts store and purchased a cheap controller to get me home. Called flexalite and they warranted the VSC for the second time this was in July of 2004. Now it’s July of 2005 and guess what my VSC went out again so I once again called flexalite in hopes that they would warranty my VSC for a third time (since I can't seem to get a full year out of the set up.) The first question they asked was if I did the RECAL. I had no idea there had been a recall. Flexalite claims that the 40 amp fuse holder is the problem with there VSC's and that had I done the recall back in August of 2004 I would not need another VSC... After talking with the tech support guy for awhile he warranted the VSC for me and sent me the recall kit. I now have the recall kit installed and the new VSC but I have little faith in the VSC so I am now keeping one of the two cheap controllers in my truck for a spare.

If you think you my need to do the recall you can visit the flexalite web site they have a picture of both the new and old fuse holders. The old is a 40 amp and new is 30 amp

Thanks and good luck,

Matt

Hmmmm... that's the only reservation I have about switching over to e-fans. Getting stuck somewhere just beacuse they won't come on.

Or having them quit working while my GF is driving my Tahoe and then having the engine overheat and blow into a million pieces.

that would suck.

Drive? She should have her a$$ in the kitchen making you a sammich and chilling your beer!

Kidding man, I know how it really works.

She actually would cook something.... but the inside of my fridge is usually as empty as the day I bought it.

Now just thinking about the fact that I have no food is making me hungry :)
