Installed Volant Air Intake and JBA Headers (pics)

I spent the morning installing a "used" Volant cold air intake and set of JBA headers.

 

Both installs were straight forward...just plan ahead for Mr. Murphy to join the mix as he always does.

 

No dyno numbers, just butt-o-meter. It feels faster off the line. No increase in noise as I already had Flowmaster 40s out back. I'll post back if there is any mpg increase.

 

In any case, the cool factor did go up a couple of points...

I had a minor revelation this weekend after starring at my stock air intake. I had a K&N FIPK on my old S10. Now that stock intake was a maze of plastic. The stock intake on the newer Silverado in almost a straight-shot pipe into the air box. There really isn't a HUGE difference between it and any of these 'high flow' intakes accept maybe the filter is better.

Yeah all that looks really good. The main advantage of cai's are the boxes or the hot air cut-offs. I am thinking about experimenting in making my own since I have access to sheet metal and plastic fab.
