How's it work... Wester's Tune

Based on what I've read here, I decided to go ahead and get a Wester's tune for my truck. What I'm confused by is the core process, I guess.

I've read over and over that if you need an adjustment, or get another vehicle, whatever, you can send the unit back to Wester's and have it adjusted. Where I comfused is what happens in the interim? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to send your old PCM back to them? So if you need an adjustment, you can't use your truck then, right?

Hopefully, I'm not going to need to send it back for anything, but I obviously won't know that until it's in and I make sure I'm happy with it. Would it be best to simply hang on to the OEM PCM and pay the core charge? What have others done? I can't be without the use of my truck at all. I work out of it, so no truck, no work.

I'm also probably going to buy another truck in about a year or so. I'm thinking I'll wait until the 07's come out. Hopefully I like the changes and I'll buy one of them. Is it true that I can trade in the PCM for my current truck, and get one for the new truck? I assume there has to be some kind of fee though?

Enlighten me, please...

I talked with Brian (one of Westers US distributors) about this yesterday. It is my understanding that if there is a problem, you contact them, they send you a reprogrammed PCM, and you send back the problem PCM.

Also, when you get a new truck, before you trade, you contact them, they send you a stock PCM, you return the programmed PCM, trade in the truck, contact them, get the new PCM for the new truck, and send them the stocker.

All of this exchange stuff just costs the shipping fees.

This is how it was explained to me. Now, the only caveot to all this is if you live close to one of the distributors. In that case, you can generally just go to their shop, and the will program it, reprogram it, etc...

That clears up most of my questions then. Thanks. When I odered mine, I didn't have time to go over much with them on the phone, so I didn't get to ask these questions.

I ordered the thing on Monday, but it's not here yet. I'm a little bummed over that, as I'm sure the upcoming holiday weekend is going to really delay it's arrival even more. Oh well, I've been using the stocker for over 4 years, another week won't kill me.
