Whining Noise from engine

My truck started making this whining noise the other day. It's the loudest when I first take off from a dead stop, and it gradually gets quieter once you get to about 30 mph or so, but I can hear it when I decelerate also. I cannot hear it at idle. I just replaced the alternator, so I'm sure it's not that. Any ideas as to what could be making the noise? My truck sounds weak now...

Did the whine start just after you replaced the alternator?....it could be a bad bearing in the new alternator....

 

I have had things like this happen to me, especially if you go for the lowest buck replacement part from a no name company...

Yes, it was whining before I replaced the alternator. Yes, it could still be the alt is bad, but I honestly doubt it. And it wasn't a low-dollar alt. This alt cost me $300, and has a lifetime warranty.

I had a whining noise from my back seat for about two weeks. Went away after I took my Sister-in-Law to the airport.

 

I expect it will come back when Mother-In-Law comes to visit at the end of the month.
