Erroneous Volt Meter Reading

Recommended Posts

Posted

My volt meter in my '97 doesn't read correctly. At the alternator and battery I read between 14 and 15 volts. The volt meter in the truck reads below 13. Can the volt meter be unplugged and replaced fairly easily? Is there somewhere under the hood I can check voltage to make sure the correct signal is being sent to the volt meter besides at the alternator? Thanks in advance.

The guage in your vehicle is only meant as an indicator its not a precise meter. Also the voltage drop between the guage and your meter at the alternator is about right.

I wouldnt worry about it.
