Is there any kind of way to disable the safety feature? I would assume, (although we all know what that does) that you can just disable the speedometor wire from the head unit. But, I don't know if its that easy.

Has anyone had any luck with it?

I had an aftermarket nav. in there before I found the GM model, but the eclipse let you mess around with it while driving.

I say, if I can talk on the phone, eat, read, shave, apply make-up or whatever the hell else everyone is doing, than I should be able to find a starbucks while I'm driving.

Thanks all.

Yes there is. Find the VSS lead on the back, and splice a contact switch into it.

You can research this forum for the pinout diagram.

That is what i did. I installed a small non lighted switch next to my keyhole for the airbag on/off. Just flip it when you need to program/look something up then flip back when you're done.
