2500HD 4x4 Extended Cab 6.0L AT - I was in park on a hill facing downhill.... I believe I went from park to reverse and heard a loud ping & clunk (Not sure if I had my foot on the brake... but, may have)... truck drove fine after that... stopped to grab some hardware @ Home Depot. When I came out... the truck wouldn't start. All electricals worked... all the lights work.. etc. etc. full voltage on the battery(ies).... I figured it was the security system,,, Called Roadside to come tow me. They did... as the guy began to lift my truck on the flat bed... when the ass end was angled above the nose I said... let me try starting it... All I could think was... when you get towed... once the truck hits a certain angle...it automatically releases the gear, right??? So it started right up... They towed me to the dealership... had a cab on the way.... and... said screw it... Started it up..and drove home.... Put the truck in park. Shut it off... waited... turn the key... click... nothing... same thing... Jiggled the shifter a bit... click, chug,,, started up...

So... wtf did I do, blow an AT on my 1st tank of gas? I think my tranny is still in gear a tiny bit now, when I'm in park...

Sound familiar?

Thanks,

Sounds like maybe you damaged the neutral safety switch. Did you e-brake it on the hill ??

I'd let the dealer look it over.

You might leave the part about the hill out of the conversation, tho!!!

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

No ebrake. I was dropping my gf off at her friend's, I never even got out of the truck. Pulled up to the house, put in park ----etc.

Yeah, its going back to the dealer in about 15 minutes.

:D Not even 300 Miles yet.....today... the dealership couldn't duplicate the problem... I'm thinking... okay... maybe it was a fluke... picked up the truck today, it started and drove home with no problem. Drove around, ran some errands.... got to my last errand for the night... and again... dead.. jiggled the shifter a bit... nothing... click... put it in neutral, held the ignition key forward..and it eventually started... but, there was an aweful grinding noise...almost like the starter was still running...or kinda like a standard tranny when you grind a gear. Had one more stop.. was a bit leary about shutting the truck off, but I did....

came back out... and it wouldn't start... I tried everything... so back to the dealership she goes.... towed via Chevy Roadside assistance... which might I add, has been a lot better than AAA... in waiting.
