Hankook tires

I saw a set of hankook Z-36LT's on a truck similar to mine, and they looked really nice. They're a 245/75 16 with a 10 ply rating.

 

The guy told me the local dealer here put em on his truck for ~450 installed, which is right at what I can afford.

 

Anyone have any experience with Hankook tires as far as how well they fare off-road (mainly mud and plowed dirt)? I would go with goodyear, but, I've never seen a goodyear tire wear very well, and, I'm trying to get a nice set of all terrain tires without breaking my wallet.

I'd save a little longer and go with the Goodyears but that's just my 2 cents!!!

I know a couple of guys that have Hankooks and they really like them. They seem to work pretty well. I also find Good Years a little overpriced. IMHO, if you like these tires and they are within your budget then I would say"Go for it".

Had a set of Hankook's on my K5 and loved them............great wear and no problems in deep mud or snow............a little bit of noise goping down the road but nothing serious.

Well, I broke down and put a set of these on my truck. I went with the 245/75's so I could still use my spare and not have to buy a 5th to just do nothing under the truck.

 

I had them crank the torsion bars up a little to up the front end, and had them re-align the front end.

 

Only problem I encountered was a squeek coming from underneath the body. At first I was hoping it wasn't a bushing from turning the torsion bars. I got underneath and looked yesterday afternoon, and luckily it was just the parking brake cable rubbing on the frame. Nothing an old cut piece of rubber hose won't fix.

 

So far, I like them. I got them right as it started to rain the other day, and they handle 100x's better in the mud than my old worn out road tires did. The tires are a little squirlly going down the road, but, the guy who sold em to me assured me that all hankooks he's sold do that for the first 1000 miles, and then they quit, so, we'll see.

 

But, I like the looks of them. The ride's a bit firmer, but, that's what's expected from a 10ply tire on a 3/4 ton.

 

Everyone around here that runs them likes em, and says the same as what some of you have said; they wear good and are great in the mud/dirt.

Glad you like them. I have a set of Hankook T34 Mud Tires. They handle o.k. on the street but take me wherever I need to take my truck off road. I think you will be happy with the hankook's.
