The Cummins mated to an Allison would be a nice option. Seeing that GM has no plans for that - the Duramax / Allison is a great, realistic combo.

If they came with catepillars oh man i would try to get the beefiest of there engines the C-15 btu i doubt it fit that engien has empressive numebrs: 435-550hp and 1550-1850 lb-ft at 1500 rpm. Oh my god if you had that big of a diesel in the HD d**n it put all others to shame. and whats interesting is that the Cat engiens are used in there medium and high duty trucks. :D

The Cat's are made for big trucks and equipment for a reason. They are low range tugging towing machines. Not much fun for a light duty truck.

To answer your question, I like the Duramax, but a Cummins would be great.

the cummins is made by the same people who make the big cummins engines for the heavyduty trucks. what would make you think caterpillar couldnt make something for a pick up truck? As already stated, caterpillar engines are available in the medium sized chevy trucks. Up with cat , down with cummins. but the dmax will do.

Realistically, The ISB Cummins would be great. But I wouldn't refuse the DuraMax either.

I would have the Duramax, but at the time that I ordered my truck, I figured it would add $75.00/month to my payment, and it just wasn't in the budget.
