Throttle Body Spacer

I know most of you think it is a waste but i got one anyways...

Ok so i installed the spacer the other day, everything went on fine. BUT, when i started it up, the idle was all messed up! It wouldnt stay running without the help of my foot on the gas. I talked to our family mechanic and he said that the idle adjustment was all done through the computer in the truck or something?? Is there any way i can get this done by myself without paying someone to adjust it for me?

Thanks in advance guys!

I'd think ya already checked these, but this is the first things I'd look at....

Are ya sure ya reconnected everything/anything electrical that got disconnected.

And be sure no vacuum lines are leaking or disconnected.

Good luck gettin' things runnin' smooth.

If i reinstalled everything (because i already took it off) and everything was correct, i should not have to adjust the idle. Is that correct?

John, I'm no expert but I believe that you need to recalibrate your computer. In order to do this you need to disconnect the negative cable from the battery for a short period of time. This will remove power to the computer memory allowing it to accept new parameters. Once the cable is reconnected start the vehicle up and let it run. It may run like crap for a minute or so, however, during this time the computer is recalibrating itself to the new intake set up. It should smooth out once the computer figures out what's going on. Right now the computer is in conflict with the factory set up and your modification and that's why you're having issues. Give it a shot, it may just be the right fix...Good luck and happy motoring...

That sounds like a good plan. I will give that a shot. Thank you!
