i dont have the g80 on my glove box so am i SOL?

does the 4.8 have enough grunt to plow 6-10 inches of snow?

where can i get a snowplow and how much do they charge typically to put it on

is it something i can bolt up my self?

im new to the topic but am interested in doing ti this winter

G80 not mandatory

VYU (plow prep) would be good. You get a tranny cooler and bigger torsion bars.

A set of Timbrens, on at least the front, will compensate.

You can put a 7.5' plow on. I would have it installed by the plow dealer.

Cost from 3500 to 4500 depending on brand.

Snow plowing is awfully hard on a truck, perhaps too hard for a half ton. I certainly wouldn't want anyone plowing snow with mine! Front suspension, gears, transmission all get a lot of extra stress on them. Anyway, just my opinion. If you are going to do it, be sure to install a tranny cooler first, and keep an eye on your engine temp while plowing.

If you are just doing your driveway and a few others you will be fine. might want to look at the plastic composite plows. They are lighter than steel ones. your suspension is adequate even though you might want to look into the tiburons??. If you are looking to do it for a business then you should go to a 2500. with a plow prep.

I see alot of 1/2 tons with plows. Add timbrens up front, balast in the rear, some heavy duty shocks, and a a good tranny cooler. Just watch the weight of the plow you choose. There can be a big difference between makes and styles. I typically like Westerns, but my new truck has a Fisher that weighs more than most 8 foot plows. Just go slow and easy and your truck should do fine.
