Problems with 2001 Silverado

I just bought a 2001 silverado LS about 4 months ago. I have less than 6000 miles on it and I have a rattle in the dash and terrible rattles in both suicide doors. I also have a strangle growling noise or vibration noise when I slowly start to accelerate. I'm going to take it to the dealer in about a week, but just was wandering if anyone has heard of anything like this or the cause for this. Anything will help me

As far as the rattles go on the excab doors, there has been a TSB on them and they are more than likely out of alignment. I had the rattles in my '00 Silverado and they were caused by the doors out of alignment, and one of the latching rods for the top latch on the passenger side. The dash rattle would be alot harder to diagnose without actually hearing it.

For the growling type noise you hear, maybe one of our other members can help you... I never experienced anything but smiles from teh power and acceleration of my 5.3L. Is it under the hood or in the drivetrain as far as you can tell???

If under the hood, I'd guess a power steering pump. If in the drivetrain I'd guess it's the transfer case if you have 4WD. There was a TSB on the Transfer Case on the 2000 models to change out the fluid and then change it out again after 500 miles. I don't know if it applies to the 2001 models...

I know the '99's had a TSB for a rattle noise in the left rear corner of the dash. I couldn't find anything for the '00's or '01's. This could be something you could do yourslef though. The '00's - '01's may already have this done since they don't have a TSB for it.

Thanks for all the info. I listened closely to the sound again this morning when pushing on the gas pedal and it maybe a vibration comming from the steering wheen column. Anyone experience this??

Every Silverado I've ever ridden in rattles and has vibration. The dealer's tried unsuccessfully several times to fix our 01. Still has vibration at 65mph. And the interior rattles identically to my friend's 99 Z71. I think it's the design.
