I am new to site, would appreciate any help that can be providedwould be appreciated.

Engine running rough, hesitates when stepping on gas.

Jumped connector and code 83 flashed.

Thanks in advance for anticipated answers.

Your 1995 is ODB I. The ODB I code 83 will set if the ECM detects an open or short cicuit in the torque converter clutch solenoid circuit.

If the solenoid has gone bad and is stuck in the applied postion, the clutch can't release and puts a strain on your engine, causing it to stall. It's like bringing a manual transmission to a stop without depressing the clutch pedal.

I have an automatic transmission so would it still be the torque converter solenoid

The torque convertor is the part of the automatic transmission that allows the truck to come to a stop without stalling the engine. Stopping with the torque convertor lockup clutch engaged is like stopping a truck with a manual without disengaging the clutch. Is your truck stalling at all as you come to a stop?

Truck does not stall, only hesitates at times when I step on the gas, especially if ascending a hill. Also, idles rough at times.

As I stated before, only code that I can retrieve is 83.

PS thanks for taking the time to help.

Greatly appreciated
