wait4me tune installed....

Went out this morning to change my oil, and I heard the mailman drive up. So I checked out front, and sure enough my tune had showed. So I finished up the oil, and popped int he new computer.

First thing I noticed was the change oil light is now coming on for the first 20 second or so after I start it up. I am wondering if this is because I just changed the oil, or because of the new PCM. ideas? I also assume that I can clear this on my own...how do I do it? IS there a way to set the light so it comes on at 3000 miles, or does it just pick up on when the oil is dirty? cause its not right now!

I only drove to get a cup of coffee down the street, but i took the long way around and was happy with the results. If you stomp on the gas while cruising 30-40 mph it nor reacts quick and accelerates liek a bat out of hell. I took a slight turn and nailed it and the tires immediately broke loose and spun for a good 10 seconds while accelerating.

Off the line it helped, and is defintely more responsive than before, but its still a heavy truck and doesn't jump off the line.

I ended up getting the 93 octane tune and told Jesse to remove a smuch TM as possible without loosing reliabilty for towing, and I explained to him this is my DD/ tow rig.

the change oil light is just from the new pcm and your owners manual tells you how to reset it somthing like key on stomp the gas 3 times then key off and ur done

as far as setting it to light up at certain times well thats what gm did but its a complex system so ur outta luck but the normal settings seem to work great for me

hope this helps

great! thanks for the help, gotta find my manual now. SO do you wai ttil the light come son to change the oil? Because I bought the truck from my dad about 2500 miles ago, he had the oil changed 3000 ago, but the light never came on, i just changed it at the 3000 interval. When shoudl the light come on?

ive found out that the light can come on at anytime i think its based on engine data and not distance

i usally never go past about 4000 or so but i do mostly hwy and some towing

just watch your oil and you will learn when the best time for you to change it

i will remind ya that when you do your oilchange reset the change eng oil light even if its not on so the system can see that its new oil

hope all this helps

BTW how do u like your tune??

in waitin on mine now

3500-

thanks for the advice. Its reset now, i did it this morning...but i'll make sure to reset even if its not on when i change it again.

The tune is great. I am really liking the extra power. Really wakes the truck up. I have hammered it a couple times and smoked the tires pretty good. the shifts aren't too firm, and are still pretty soft compared to some other automatic vehicles i have had tuned. But its preety impressive what a littl e computer work will do for the truck. I thought i read the tune gets better as it learns the truck. that was the case on my t-bird...took a couple hundred miles but it ran really good after it learned the car.
