Can or will a dealer install GM Performance parts (if I buy them) to replace a warranty part and still be under factory warranty

My understanding is they will not. They need to put the veh. back the way it rolled off the show room floor. I asked the same question at my local dealer and that is what they told me. give it a shot and see what they say.

If you purchased the parts, they could put them on and charge out the real part so they get paid by GM for the repair... if they are willing to commit fraud.

 

If you ever need whatever it is repaired again under warranty, there could be additional problems. Say they had to replace the performance part due to some failure and GM called the failed part back for examination as they often do. The claim will bounce a mile when they see that the part is not a standard, original equipment part. In other words, the service department will be doing the repair for free, not to mention being in trouble for sending back a part which obviously did not belong on the vehicle.

 

I doubt any service manager in his right mind would do this.

Thanks for the responce, I was just wondering, I thought all GM parts where somewhat alike. I figured that it was a GM part they would do it.

Well, a cam is a cam and you might not be able to see too much difference if you laid them side by side, so yeah, they're alike, but they're not the same and the part number is not the same.
