Please help me save my truck! I have a beautiful 2001 Red Silverado Z-71 in absolute mint condition (no BS either). It's a California truck so it has always been real easy to keep clean and lookin good. But, I recently moved to Colorado to finish school and have already realized I am sure as hell not in Cali anymore. I cannot keep it clean to save my life so I am worried about my paint, and I have heard about corrosion problems with vehicles in snow, and winter is just around the corner. Long story short, is there anyone living in the same type of environment that I am now living in CO that can offer me some advice in keeping my truck nice? Thanks.

Get a clear bra on atleast the nose of the turck. I would suggest on the rocker panels and fender flares if you have them.

Otherwise, I would say get a place with a garage if you can, and only drive in the snow if you absolutely have to. I just use snow days as a good excuse to clean my place up. If you know snow or rain is coming, hit your truck with a California Car Duster (think that is what it is called) and just plan on washing your truck every week.

If you have aftermarket rims, I highly suggest throw the stockers back on for the winter months. Mag-chloride is salt, no matter how much they say otherwise, and it eats aftermarket rims no matter what you do. If you don't have stockers anymore, Performance WHeel and Tire on Santa Fe, has tons of used stock rims for sale, think they were the best price I found when I went looking for a friend.

BTW, what school you at? I moved from CA to CO for college and have decided to never go back.

If I had a truck like yours, I'd seriously look for a garage to store it for the winter months and go find an old beater to drive until the snow goes away.
