Astro Air Conditioner

My second automobile is a 2000 Chevy Astro AWD.

 

I am having trouble with the Air Conditioner. With any selection on the switch (AC, Max AC, Vents, ...) all of the air is coming from the floor and defroster vents.

Granted that it is good and cold, just not coming from the dash vents as selected.

 

Any suggestions where I might start to correct the problem?

The doors are vacuum operated on that vehicle. You have a vacuum leak somewhere. Put the fan on the lowest speed, turn the radio off and listen real close while you put the mode in each position, i.e. vent, floor, defrost, etc. If the leak is behind the dash, you might be able to hear a hiss.

 

If you don't hear anything inside, you probably have a leak in the main vacuum line that goes to the intake.
