THE RIM IS TIRE NO

Incorrect. The tires are covered. Keep in mind they are only covered for defects in the tire, not road hazard (punctures, nails, cuts, etc., etc.).

I have to say that I have not seen a tire leak air that wasn't damaged in some way, which would not be covered. I HAVE seen rims that were porous and leaked air. You need to dunk that tire/wheel in one of those tanks and see where it's leaking.

GM-Tech,

Thanks, I don't have tank available so will try pouring soapy water all over it and see if that will show anything, if not will try and take it in to the dealer and see if they can find anything.

NOT NECESSARY, ON THE DEFECTS BECAUSE GM WILL EITHER REPLACE IT AND SEND IT INTO THE TIRE CO FOR THEM TO WARRANTY IT, OR JUST SEND YOU TO THAT TIRE MANUFACTURE FOR THEM TO DEAL WITH IT. MOST LIKELY OPTION TWO, DUE TO THE FACT IF THE TIRE CO DOES NOT BELIEVE IT IS A DEFECT THEN GM JUST GOT STUCK WITH A TIRE

SO IT STILL WOULD NOT BE A FACTORY WARRANTY

I deal with tire warranty replacement at our place, so please, unless you work in a GM service department and handle this process in some manner other than how you are supposed to handle it, you're just giving out misinformation.

For all intents and puposes, GM handles everything. We do not send people to a tire store that handles the tires. That used to be an option, but that changed quite a few years ago as GM improved the tire warranty process. It's totally invisible to the customer and really, to us in service.

We get the tire just like any other part and charge it on the repair order. Tires I cover under warranty are NEVER rejected by the tire manufacturer, even when I've replaced tires that were obviously damaged and not a warranty issue.

I'd say that GM buys enough tires from whatever manufacturer that the deal is, if we replace the tire in service, the tire manufacturer swallows it, even if it is not truly a warranty issue. We have very few tire defect issues and the number of tires warranted are microscopic compared to what they sell GM so they're not complaining. On average, I may replace a 5-10 tires in the course of a year.

NOW THAT’S YOUR DEALER. WHICH IS GREAT THAT YOU ALL HANDLE THINGS THAT WAY. I DEAL WITH JUST ABOUT EVERY GM DEALER IN THE US, AND IT DOES NOT GET HANDLED THAT WAY AT OTHER DEALERS. I HAVE SEEN WHERE THEY WERE REJECTED

BUT JUST LIKE YOU SAID "Tires I cover under warranty are NEVER rejected by the tire manufacturer" WHICH MEANS IT IS NOT FACTORY WARRANTY

A technicality, but you are right. As far as the customer is concerned, tires are handled just like any other warranty repair and that, after all, is what counts. If a dealer does it any other way, they are not following GM's policies and procedures and are in violation of their franchise agreement.

You say you deal with just about EVERY GM dealer in the U.S. May I ask in what capacity?

200-300 GM DEALERS DAILY

Again... In what capacity? What do you do with 200-300 dealers daily? Can't be much. 300 per day, divided by the number of minutes in a 24 hour day (1440) works out to just under 5 minutes per dealer. And I'm sure you don't work 24 hours a day.
