Painting a clear bug sheild

Recommended Posts

I just get a clear Lund Interceptor for my truck and I have plans on painting th back side of it white so it blends in with my truck. We have this done on our Polo Green Bravada and it is by far the best look. My question is how do I go about painting it or should I take it to a shop. There are no instructions for painting it.

We had the Bravada one painted at the shop because it was there anyway to get the hood repainted. So I was thinking this may be best because if I am not happy with the way it turns out maybe something can be done about it.

My dad has painted cars before and he has offered to do it for me. What type of prep work would we need to do to insure it bonds well?

Also I have had people telling me just to get a can of the Krylon Fusion paint for plastic and paint it myself. Will this work or shuld I stick to automotive paint?

Thanks for any input

i have painted many plastic parts with the krylon fusion stuff and it works GREAT just be sure to mask off the front of the sheild

that should be all the prep other than cleaning it to use the fusion and get a good bond

hope this helps
