Body Lift and Cooling Problems??

I have had a body lift on my truck close to a year now... my a/c went out last week and i took it to the shop and they checked everything and said that because of having the body lift, moving the shroud isn't pulling enough air through the radiator and condensor...saying thats the reason my truck is running hot..which it's not and that's also the reason the a/c don't work. He suggested that it was going to take alot of sheetmetal work to close off all the gaps for my truck to cool properly. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing. I sure haven't!! Please tell me I just need to take it to someone who knows what they're doing!

I've had a B/L for a few years now and havn't had any problems with cooling. I ran for over a year with no other modifications without any problems. I made up a couple panels to go on the upper and lower gaps, mainly to clean up the installation a little bit. I'm sure it helped with the cooling some, but that was not the sole reason I did it.

 

If you check out the second page of my B/L install, it will show some pictures of how I made the fillers. It was not hard, or costly, but was a little time consuming.

at most you loose what, 10-15% or your radiator? You could always try installing an electric fan and seeing if that helps, but i doubt the radiator is the problem, the two seem unrelated.

 

Plus your truck is almost 10 years old, i think that has a little more to do with it.

I'd go to another shop. 9 years old? Sounds like something needs to be replaced.

did you drop the fan shroud like your supposed to when you did the Body Lift or did you just take part of it off? If you don't cut the fan shroud and drop it then it won't cool right.

Ding Ding Ding... We got a winner... Yep if you put in a body lift and you have cooling issues and your shroud doesn't fix... Install an Electric fan..

 

You'll get some big benifits from this fan...

- Slight Gain in HP

- You can turn off the fan for Water Crossings, helps to keep you from stalling

- Not to mention your turck should run a lot cooler..

 

I have a '94 pathfinder with a 2" BL and it almost started running hot the same day... I'm looking into moding an electirc fan as I use it for 4x4ing only...
