TrailBlazer muffler finish

We're on our 3rd TrailBlazer, and this is the first one with a stainless muffler under the rear bumper. The previous 2 had black mufflers. This is our first v8 so I'm not sure if that is why. ANybody know?

 

I've only seen one other stainless muffler on a TB, and it was on a non-EXT LT model.

 

BTW I love the 5.3L exhaust tone at idle, sweet for a factory exhaust.

If it wasn't an EXT, then it wasn't a 5.3. I do know that on several (4.2) that we replaced the muffler, we had to paint it. Maybe the one you saw was a replacement that didn't get painted.

 

Don't see many 5.3 TB's here, so I have no clue if they normally come with an unpainted muffler.

I had kept my eyes open for a 5.3L and hadn't seen any, we lucked into this one when the dealer located it by accident, by accidentally omitting the power seat option. I'll take that

2005/2006 LS models come with an unpainted muffler

LT's have the black painted

 

You can get some heat resistant spraypaint and do it yourself though

My 03' 5.3L's muffler is black and not pealing

Seems like the '06's have a shiny aluminized rear resonator (muffler). Don't know why GM did this, as many complained when it was black that it was fugly. Now it is more visible and fugly continues to a new level
