Diff light

I have an '01 gmc sierra k1500 with push button 4 wheel drive. My question is when i push the button to go into 4 wheel drive the light will blink to let me no its engaing but it wont stop blinking. The problem is it will engage but it will keep blinking and when i go to the auto 4 wheel drive even on slippery ground it will keep blinking then go back to a solid light on 2 wheel drive. I was wndering what this could be or if anyone has any suggestions before i take the truck in for a servicing.

It's likely the push-button switch as it's a common failure. It failes on mine with a Service 4WD message. If not the switch, probably an actuator on the front diff or transfer case.
