2003 tahoe engine problems

my 03 tahoe will not start when below 1/4 tank and cold? hopefully their is a gm tech that knows how to fix this problem. dealer does not have a clue, what new?

Is your SES light on? and if so have you had it read or know what the codes are?

 

Maybe your guage is off and your actually really really empty.

no ses light on, and filled up only held 18 gal. this has happened before and i just have to put in a gal or 2 and it stars up, this only happens after it sets over night??

Is it parked on an incline? My brothers '03 burb does the same thing when parked on a grade overnight, with a low fuel level. I'm thinking the fuel in the tank has pooled away from the sender and then the sender module drains back overnight, allowing a fuel starvation problem to occur. His will start then stall the first try and just crank thereafter.

 

If you can check the fuel pressure when the condition occurs, it will narrow down the diagnosis quite a bit.

 

If this is what I'm thinking it is, I don't know that there is much you can do about it other than keep the tank level higher or park on level ground.
