Fender Flare Installation

Recommended Posts

I tried a search, but didn't come up with anything. I'd like to add fender flares to my '00 Z71. My truck has rock chips on the lower rear quarters and a couple on the lower rear front fenders, I have touched these areas up, but to further deter this from happening I was thinking about adding a set of the black textured fender flares (it has the stock rims/tires, but still gets paint chips) I have two questions:

1.) I have been looking at buying a set off of ebay (there are several GM sets currently on there that people have taken off of their new trucks) and they seem to go for somewhere around 150 with shipping. Is this a good price? Anyone know how much a new GM or new aftermarket set is? I've found several different ones for around $300!!!

2.) How do you install them? Several ebay adds say "clips not included." What holds these flares on and where can I get it? I think it uses plasic clips on the fender bottoms and 3M tape?? to hold the outer area against the body???

Thanks for the help

Pretty much right on the install. These plastic type push-in screws is the best way I can think of describing them. They go into pre-existing holes in the wheel wells. The tape is to keep the edge of the flares from rubbing on the body.

Does the price sound ok? Don't want to pay a lot if I don't have to. I saw some "bushwhacker" sets for almost $300, so I guess that's a good price??

What type of tape doe I use and where can I get it? Same with the clips. Do I HAVE to go to a GM dealer to get them? I like your truck, looks exactly like mine, minus the grill guard. I love indigo blue metallic. Did you take the fender flares off of your truck? I think mine looks better without them.

the price is good for oem takeoffs

as for the clips you can get them at the dealer or somthimes at napa or autozone in the fastener section

the tape is the same you can find it almost anywhere its just 3m double sided foam tape

just be sure b4 u install the tape to really clean the flares and the truck to make sure u dont have a issue down the road with the tape comming lose

hope this helps
