Tech 2 question for the expert.

This is not for a truck, but I thought you would know.

How can I use a Tech 2 to disable the Tire Pressure System on a '97-up Corvette?

My friend has new wheels without the sensors in them and we want to shut the system down so the DIC will quit giving him the messages.

Thanks,

Joshua

Nevermind. I found the answer searching the web.

You can only use the Tech2 to disable the TPS on '01 newer Corvettes. The older ones you just have to hit the reset button on the dash when you start the car to clear the warning light.

I have two different sets of wheels, one of which doesn't have tpms sensors. Plus, on the HD's the computer wants to see at least 65psi in the tires, which with my 20's I can't run that high of pressure.

So thus, it would be nice to just turn it off!

Never really tried it myself on a Corvette. I would have assumed it could not be done so easily. Where did you get that information and/or what exactly does it say concerning '01 and up Corvettes?

I heard it can be done on the newer trucks by replacing the passenger door module (which is the receiver) and when it's programmed, lie and don't tell it that it has TPM. This is what I heard, I have not tried it myself, but I can tell you there doesn't appear to be an option to select with or without TPM when programming one of these.

Corvettes are no doubt different since all but a few have run flats and therefore have to have TPM. And the way I understand it, tire pressure monitoring will soon be a federal requirement.
