My Jeep...

Gave it about 6" suspension lift up front, 5.5" susp in back, 33" BFG A/Ts. Total of about 9" of lift with tires. It's not 100% done (are they ever ?!!?), but it wheels pretty good for a 2wd :D

Next thing is a rearend upgrade- tougher axles, a locker and 4.56 gears. I plan to convert it to 4wd, but with a locker... might not be necessary. I'm a firm believer a well driven, locked 2wd will go almost anywhere a medicore driver can put his 4wd  !!! I've been out twice with so far and haven't gotten stuck... yet !!!!

Whatchy'all think ?!!?

Not bad, for a J33P.

Don't tell the Cruiser Community I said that.

Although I disagree w/ the 4WD vs. 2WD statement in part that it should be qualified as to what type of off roading a 2WD could be "as capable" as a 4WD vehicle.

That doesn't discount the proven fact that an experienced driver in a 2WD vehicle can/will/ & should drive circles around your average idiot in 4WD.

Keep us posted as to your progress. It gives me a warm feeling in my heart to see that I'm not the only one dumping $ into a weekend hobby.

Ture- I ain't climbing any rocks with 2wd, but the kind of trails I have around here, some minor mud bogging, stuff like that- no problem

No, I agree, there are a few things that the best driver in the world won't be able to do with just 2wd- locked or not.

But I have my fun, and that's why I built it :D

And it's no weekend hobby- that's my daily driver :chevy::dupe::D

Good looking XJ, Eric. 4.0 HO underhood?

Jp Magazine and Jeep Identityhave a ton of info for Jeeps, if you want to take a gander at then.

I've always thought that the J-10 Honchos and FSJ Grand Wagoneers were the best of the "old school" Jeeps. But that's just me. I'm weird like that.

I 'scribe to JP, never heard of Jeep ID. I'll check it out.

Man, I dig all the old Jeeps, but really dig the old fullsize ones. Cappa's J-truck is wicked, the Honchos, FCs.... I like 'em all !!!

Yup, 4-O in mine. Got a 400 small block I want to put in it one day. Should make for a sweet torquer :fume:

Thanks for the compliments. It's nice and dirty right now

Just like a good Jeep should be :fume:

That is a good looking jeep. I would love to have a new Rubicon as a base project, but too much money for a hobby/toy. I have always wanted to build a CJ7 and probly will some day, but I need to improve my welding and fab skills a bit. What I do now works, but it is not pretty every time.

Good Looking Jeep!! Have fun with it!

Also if you go online to JP Mag , and look at the videos you will see me in my XJ tearing the roof off of my patio... yeah it was fun.

Ha !!! I saw that video !!! Pretty funny !!!

Ya know, I hear those *real* jeep cracks, but I'm cooler when it's hot, dryer when it's wet, warmer when it's cold, got storage room, wheelbase... I like my fake jeep just fine :P !!!!!!

I ain't wheeled it all week, but we found a really killer spot in NW Houston, with actual hills to climb and descend  Way too tight for a full size... Jeeps-only. Even at that, mine's earned several new racing stripes down each side :D Really pretty small of an area, but for around here, really cool.

And the 2wd does pretty good with this madman at the wheel :D Ain't stuck-it yet :P There's only one way a 2wd treads where 4wds go- and that's balls-out :D I did let my bud pull me up a hill one evening instead of climbing it sideways, but that's cuz I had to do it once already and was worried I'd flop it on it's side. But it was an optional-pull :P I made it before.

I'll get some vids and more pics from time to time.
