INTERMITTENT.. NO AUDIO FROM RADIO..

AT TIMES WHEN STARTING MY 2003 DENALI, THE RADIO HAS NO AUDIO...YOU CAN CHANGE THE STATIONS BUT IT HAS NO SOUND..I HAVE A NAVIGATION TOUCH SCREEN & THE NAV PART WILL WORK & HAS SOUND.WHEN THIS HAPPENS I HAVE NO ONSTAR AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF????MY HUSBAND REMOVED THE 15 AMP RADIO FUSE FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS & IT WORKS GREAT FOR A FEW DAYS & THEN IT HAPPENS ALL OVER AGAIN.....ANY SUGGESTIONS??I DON'T WANT TO GIVE HER UP ??? HE IS WEARING OUT THE HINGES ON THE HOOD FROM OPENING & CLOSING IT TOO MANY TIMES!!!!

There are updated calibrations for the radio for this concern. That's the first thing I'd look for. This would require a trip to the dealer.

I have never heard the "airbag off" comment along with the audio problem. I assume someone IS sitting in the passenger seat at the time?

THANKS I WILL TAKE IT TO THE DEALER & SEE WHAT THEY COME UP WITH....I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT THEY FIND...IS THIS A PROBLEM WITH ONLY THE 03'S I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM???BUT NO ANSWERS....

I don't recall exactly the year range it affects, but definitely 2003. Some need an amplifier replacement too.

WOW, I can't believe I found this thread !!!!!!!

my 03 Denali did this for 8 months, and the smucky dealer had NO clue. They didn't even believe me that we had a problem. all I heard was "could NOT duplicate". We would lose audio, and then if we parked it, the battery would drain. They ripped apart the whole truck attempting to find a short. They replaced the radio, did nothing. And when it happened, the only way to "reset" the problem was to disconnect the battery, and reconnect it.

Finally I insisted they replace the AMP because it was affecting on-star and the cell phone too. And that solved the problem.

and since they replaced the radio, all we kept getting was the low quality refurbished units, which were all garage. finally I made them give me an 06 radio !.

But I have a Standard radio 04 Silverado LS, Has only done it twice and to fix it I just turned the radio off then back on and it works fine, It has also changed stations on me automagicly,

AND the very stange one is, this has happend twice also the radio volume wint up and the drivers door unlocked.

Haven't taken it in to the dealer yet because it is intermittin problem and I can not duplacate it. it does it only about every other month, so when it happens I have fogoten about it and I think what the ?? Do I need to call a Preist or something

Me too:

If just turning the radio off then back on fixes it, it's not the same thing. Some of the other things mentioned almost sound like driver 1/2 personalization kicking in, except the door lock thing.

This was eliminated on a lot of our vehicles because customers were complaining that the radio changed stations by itself next time they got in the car, but in reality they were just using a different key fob and it was the driver 1/2 thing.

OK, This got me thinking my wife rides with me all the time and her key is #2 for some reason the button is pushed would that cause the radio to to do this.

And this is new? my radio has the info system on it and now one of the stations is showing this after station name ,0,0,0,4, this only on one station, it maybe nothing. but I'm the type of person that has every thing checked out that seems wrong and maintance is most important.

Every instance of invalid RDS I've seen has been the station itself. The radio only displays the data it is provided. If the other stations' RDS data is okay, it's the station.

Had one customer come in complaining 105.9 was always showing the same song title no matter what was on. Went out to my truck, went to that station and showed him it was the same way on mine.
