Silverado Antenna Question

Recommended Posts

I have a question for you guys, my antenna as I drive basically unscrews itself from the vibration of my truck, I guess...  Does anyone else have this happen?  I wonder if the lift has caused extra vibration due to height, etc. but I was just curious if this just happens to me?  It is crazy, I can get out the ol wrench and torque that sucker tight, drive around for a day, and that SOB is practically bout to fall out!  It's crazy...

My old S-10 was like that, so first thing I did when I got this truck was broke out the old crescent wrench and tightened it down.  I mean, they come from the factory just hand tightened, it's been this way on every company truck we've gotten here as well.  After I tightened mine down I haven't had any problems w/ it coming loose.  You may want to consider loc-tite or something on it if yours is breaking loose really easily.

Actually threadlocker might not be such a good idea.  If it covers the thread completely, the antenna is insulated from the mount and it would not work as effectively.  Just make sure that it is tight.

I will have to attempt that again too, with a little more muscle power then last time, mine is always working itself loose.  We have some horrible roads here and they cause the truck to vibrate all over the place so it works it self loose.

The dealer didn't tighten mine enough when I took deliv.  It worked its way loose.  I tightened it as much as it would go.  Still doing fine after 4 months.  Roads here are a bit rough too.  Too many potholes after the one snow.  ???
