Swapping BCM Questionn

First I have searched...

I want to swap a 00-02 BCM into a 99 NBS Silverado to gain control of the lights and locks. Several of you say you have done it, but after reading some articles on tech link they have me scared. According to them the world just might end if swapping BCMs between vehicles. In my specific instance of a 00-02 BCM into a 99 Silverado will:

Any codes be set?

Any codes carried over by the donor truck?

All message center functions still work?

Remote key fobs still work?

Does it mess with the radio theftlock or anythig else?

Options on my truck like the defroster and fog lights still work if the donor truck did not have them?

Any other things to be gained other than lock and light control?

I do realize there is a relearn procedure to do when doing this.

I know it is alot of questions, any info is greatly appreciated.

I swapped out the BCM in my '99 mainly so I could program my locks the way I wanted, and be able to use the dome override so I coudl control the headlights if I wanted too. To be honest, I didn't even think about that other stuff. I have had no problems with anything you mentioned though. I had an aftermarket stereo in mine when I swapped, so I don't know about the Theftlock, but I'm pretty sure you won't have any problems.

Other gains will depend on what you get the BCM from. I think if you get one from and Escalade or Denali, you will get the theater light dimming amd maybe a couple other things. I'm not positive on that though.
