silverado brakes

Hello everyone.  I have a squeeking coming from my front disc brakes in my 99 Silverado.  I have 47k miles so far, and I figure this is the wear indicator for the pads.  Has anyone here replaced their brake pads yet?  Anyone here replace/upgrade their rotors or go to a big brake kit?  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  BTW, i did do a search, but could not find any answers.   I did find a $TEALIN (Stillen) big brake kit upgrade, but don't wanna drop $3k on brakes, when the OEM's worked great.  If there is a low cost upgrade, please let me know.

If you do alot of city or intown driving I think your pads could be about worn out with 47K on them.  Alot depends on your driving style too.  If the chirp or squeal happens everytime you apply the brakes then it is more than likely your wear indicators.

Why would you want to 'upgrade' your brakes?  Towing a F250 Supercab diesel on a tow dolly my '99 will stop as quick as that Ford can stop by itself. That's what the Fords owner said.

i figure an "upgrade" now is a better time to do it since I'll have to get new pads anyways, I may invest in some new X drilled rotors while I'm replacing the pads. :lookaround:

I've got 50k on my 2000 and the brakes still look and operate great. I will be replacing at least the front pads this summer though, even if the wear indicators arent hitting. My driving is about 65/35% highway/city.
