temp range

My '98 Z71 5.7 runs at about 150 degrees or less. I changed the stat with the factory recommended (I think it was a 195) and it still runs at this temp. Is this temp too low for optimum perf. and mileage, or is this about the correct temp. it should run? I know an engine needs a certain amount of heat to run properly.

What is the normal operating temp. for a 5.7 and should I go to a hotter stat?

Around 200 degrees, plus a little more in hotter weather or hard driving.
