1994 2500 2wd Chevy - Transmission

I have a 1994 chevy 2500 2wd with a transmission that is acting up. It will downshift from 3rd to 2nd and then the speedometer will not work. Then when you "feather" the gas pedal it will sometimes shift back to third. It is like it needs to build up pressure.

 

I have changed the filter and fluid, the fluid was a little dark. I don't want to spend to much on this truck and was hoping for a simple fix. ie: speed sensor. Any ideas? Thks.

May be a speed sensor. That'd be the first place I'd look since you lose the speedo too.

Thanks GM-Tech. I'm not a mechanic....is there anyway to test them or do you just drop the money on a new one in hopes that it fixes it.

 

Also, any insight on where it is located and what I am looking for. Thanks again!
