Okay... Here lately I've been considering looking into changing my air dam on my 2001 Z71 Silverado to the ones that come on the Z71 Tahoes and Suburbans. Does anyone have any experience with this? I would think the connect points and mounting points would be the same and the fog lights should be plug and play with the mount and connection of the old ones. Any advice would be welcome!

It is a direct replacement.

I cost out the parts from the dealership a while back, and it was going to cost around $300-$350 for the parts.

But yeah, it's all plug-n-play.

  Ok well I guess Lake disagrees with me on a few points. I call oil consumption pretty basic. Rudimentary. He calls it "really complicated." I think 1qt consumed in 3k miles is a lot. He says that's normal. In 22 minutes, he'll use his natural talent to explain oil consumption to anyone watching this video. He covers everything from obvious engine damage to how normally functioning healthy engines consume oil by design. Lake explicitly states how you drive will impact oil consumption. Shut up and watch:

  Check for broken bolts holding the exhaust manifolds to the heads, common problem. Dorman makes a repair piece if you find you have broken 1s and don't want to do the surgery to replace them

  My dealer says it's the 6.6 from the HD modified for the 1500's. So, my money's on the 6.7.
