Howdy

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. My name's Danny. This may seem odd, but I'm comming from a Subaru. I have a nice little WRX that sadly, my uncle wrapped around a tree. While the future of that car is still to be determined, I'm driving my grandpa's 93 Sierra. Well, comming from a 2.0l turbo, it doesn't have the horsepower I'd like, but boy, I've never felt torque. It's amazing. I have no idea what's under the hood, its a V8 I know, but I dunno the cid.

I joined the site for to learn some about the truck. My grandpa's health is failing, so he can't drive it anymore, so its pretty much mine now, and I think it'd be a fun ride to take to the strip, or just blow some unsuspecting F-Body's doors off. If you guys could point me in the right direction as to what the engine code is(I bet they put multiple V8's out so I doubt you can tell me that till I get you a displacement), what are some good ideas for power(I know my way around a motor, but dunno if this one could handle my power goals or if I'd need to swap in something meaner), and where I can shop/look for parts.

Thanks guys. It's good to be here.

Welcome

I would start off with an exhaust system and a K&N air filter,Then check with Hypertech to see if they still have a performance chip available,I had great results and loved the extra performance they gave me when I had my '93 and '94 K1500 4x4s (They were both 350-V8/Automatics)

The only two V8s that could be in there if its a 1/2 ton are a 305 or 350,If its a "Heavy" 3/4 or 1-ton,its either a 350 or 454.

I can't remember the HP rating on the 305 but I think it was 185.

The 350 for '93 was either 210 or 200 (There was a 1st and 2nd design air intake system that made a difference in HP ratings)

The 454 was rated at 230hp.

The torque ratings totally slip my mind so I can't say what they are.
