Silverado 1500 Leveling

I have a 2wd Silverado 1500 regular cab and i was wondering how i could level the front and back. Ive heard talk about adjusting the torsion bar and buying torsion keys or even leveling blocks but which one should i do? Id really like to have the ride height equal just because it looks better and id also like to have larger tires. If yall could help me out that would be awesome. Thanks.

There leveling kit has bilstein shocks with it so it is really slick, i just put it on my truck and love it.

awesome thanks for that when you installed that leveling kit did you get all 4 shocks and the bump stop? if you did did it raise the back of the truck any? Id really like to level out the whole truck and hopefully add a little ride height to the whole truck and put 305 tires on it

The back doesn't raise, i did get the bumpstops and all four shocks, i would suggest professional installations seeing as though me and my buddy tried doing it ourselves and i have one hell of a nasty bruise and am lucky i didn't break my shoulder.

I was reloading the torsion bars and the torsion bar tool slipped...explosively...it caught me in the eaty part of the right shoulder and d**n did that hurt. i still can't raise it above my head and its been like 2 weeks.

But yeah it is an awesome kit and it rides really nice, it let me put 285's with no clearance issues

I lucked into a fantastic deal yesterday as I was offered a free set of Truxxx keys - installed. The local tire shop had the Truxxx rep in town and needed an 05 or 06 GM truck...they were using it for training as they are the Truxxx dealer, and needed a truck to train a couple of new mechanics. I was told they would be installed by the rep who had flown into town, but would be teaching guys how to install them.

They said all was free including Truxxx keys, installation, and front end alignment. I thought about it for a while and then said yes. Man, these are great!

I have nothing to do with Truxx, am not a sales man or owner. You can go to www.truxxx.com to see them. I highly recommend them!

Well, I can now honestly say that the "free" Truxx was a huge mistake. The ride ended up being very harsh and the truck drove like crap. I climbed under the truck this evening to back the bolts off, and see that I've got a leaking front left shock....must have been causged by the new keys....junk...wouldn't recommend at all.

I backed the bolts off 13 full rotations and brought it back down to where the level was before the freebee. Now off to the GM shop for another alignment and probably new shocks....any thoughts?

Got the truck back from them and it rides like factory. I'm very happy now! They took off the Truxx keys and reinstalled the factory keys....realigned the front end and all is well.

With a 2wd you can either lower the back with shackles or you can raise the front with coil springs and/or spindles. The torsion bars only come on the 4wd 1500's and the HD trucks. You're going to have to put a 6 inch lift on the 2wd to get a 305 under the front...then depending on what gear ratio you have you will probably want to put some 3.73's or 4.10's in it. IMO the 4.10's.
