Need help with mirrors

Hey guys I need some help again. I wrote a few months ago when my mirrors got stolen. I was kind of dissapointed with the response I got But I did understand that the thiefs were faulty. I recently noticed something very interesting. As I previously mentioned I live on the south Texas border about 10 minutes away from Mexico. I also vented that the design was flawed. Well surprisingly Ive noticed that various vehicles form Mexico have different mirror housing that would prevent the mirrors from being stolen. Ive seen it on different vehicles trucks, cars ,and vans especially ones with heated mirrors. Ive tried contacting GM they apparently dont know what Im talking about. So then I tried contacting GM Mexico they replied with a link to register my GM vehicle like the one from here. I hope this shows someone out there that can do something that GM does know about this problem and developed mirrors with protection for another country but not the good ol USA. I know many people around here have gone to their prized GM truck and seeing their truck violated and have to repay GM to replace them. Originally the response was "it hasnt happened here". I pray it never happens to anyone but if GM can prevent it wouldnt you want that same protection before it happens? What Im asking for is does anyone know how to get these mirror housing or even seen or heard of them. I really hope I can get these before I get ripped off again. thank everyone for your time and help.

I dont really understand what your asking for, is it the whole side mirror it's self? Just the glass, or just the plastic? Or do you have some sort of weird off the wall mount for your mirrors on your truck?

He doesn't use paragraphs, so it is bit difficult to follow his messages, at least for me. So, I snipped a bit of his message above. His first message on this board is very similar:

Apparently, there is some security kit for mirror glass on GM Mexico trucks. It isn't sold here in the U.S. and the kit can only be purchased in Mexico on Mexican-registered vehicles, according to his message.

It would be OH-SO-HELPFUL if he were to post photos of the kit, or a URL of the kit.

ah-ha. It makes sense now. I would be interested too, to see a picture of such a device. Considering I just swapped out my stock power only mirrors to full power, fold, heat, turn signals, and dimming. I dont want mine to dissappear.

I have only seen these mirrors on the street.

I am assuming they are a Mexico only option.

Its hard for me to get any info (lrymal).

That is why I am asking for help getting info to obtain them myself and any one interested. What Im asking for, I assume is a dealer installed part. I havent approched any owners of the vehicles for info. I wish I could find a picture of the whole housing. I would describe the housing as a US GM mirror housing with a rolled in lip.

I hope this helps.

Well, I think it is obvious that you are the source of information. No one here has seen this. And, we'd probably be interested in this housing. Perhaps if you were to take a photo and share with the group...

I'm guessing that this lip would prevent anyone from sticking a screwdriver behind the glass plate? If so, for example on the drivers side mirror and if your sitting in the truck, wouldnt the lip be almost against the glass on the far side, and on the nearest side against the window there would be a gap of about 1/4"? I'm just trying to picture this do-dad so I can really look for it. I'm here in California and there are quite a few trucks from Mexico.

The lip does go over and in front of the mirror. Imagine like a J. I also think it is extended a little further foward.

so does it go compleatly around the whole face of the mirror? Or just the bottem and one side, 'like a "j" '?

The trim piece goes all the way around so that it protects/encloses the mirror. I know I first said like a J maybe another example would be: imagine a C with the mirror inside. I hope it helps.
