TNR+6CD connection drops intermittently

Hi all,

 

I've got a Bose non-lux TNR and a Denali/Escalade in-dash 6CD setup in my 04 Sierra. I installed the 6CD nearly one year ago (and have probably had the TNR for eighteen months). A couple months ago an intermittent problem appeared, in that the 6CD would sometimes drop signal on either the left or right channel (replaced by a bit of popping static) but sound would continue to play normally out the other channel. Firmly patting on the dash will often correct the problem. The problem does not manifest itself when listening to FM/XM/AM. If you are playing a CD and the problem shows up, switching to FM/XM/AM will immediately cure it (though it will likely reappear again when you switch back to CD). The problem has lately been getting worse, to the point where it will likely show up before I can even play 1 or 2 tracks on a CD.

 

The 6CD connector is T-tapped into the secondary connector on the TNR. I assume this is a connectivity issue, but was curious as to which signal being faulty is likely to result in the left *OR* right channel dropping out intermittently?
