I have a question regarding the Auto transmission fliud level on my 2002 GM Sierra halfton 4by4 5.3.  First of all when is the best time to check it when it's running and in park and when it's cold or hot?? Also on the dip stick were should it be at? Between the two holes ??  Thank-you in advance.

Engine running, in park (I always cycle through all the gears then back to park), on a level surface (any incline will give you false readings).  Best to check when engine warm (less than 10 miles of nonagressive driving).  Level should be close to the top hole.  Cold level should be just above the bottom hole.  Just make sure you don't overfill.
