Ext Cab Rear Door Creak

2004 Z71, Ext Cab, Sportside

 

There seems to be a creaking noise coming from where the rear door attaches to the front door (middle of cab). If I move the column where the two doors meet, you can really hear the creak. It also happens whenever I drive on uneven surfaces when the frame flexes.

 

Do I need to lubricate any of the latches? or is this a Chevy commonality?

Open the rear door(s) at look at the bottom and top of the opening for plasic wedge like pieces. Liberally lubricate the contact (they contact the door itself) surface of these. I prefer a heavy silicone paste lubricant, but any good grease should probably do the job.

 

Not sure that's your probably, but it sounds like it could be.
