A few dash lights went out - fix?

I had asked this a while back, but this issue is really getting getting to me. I had two groups of dash lights go out on me. First, I lost the lights on the a/c, defroster, recirc buttons (note that they are all in a row). Shortly after, I lost lights on some radio buttons (the group with the CD, FM, AUX, AND the lights around the volume knob). Not sure if the two groups are realted, but there has to be something to this to cause each group to go out all at once.

I'm far from an electrical expert, so I merely checked the fuses. Nothing odd there. Tapping and ticking on the dash does nothing. I can understand a light or two going out, but mine went out in groups. Any ideas to the exact problem or how to fix?

Oh yeah, and I have recently joined Team Fuel Gauge Problem. How annoying...

If I remember correctly there is one light that controls every 2 buttons, they do go out right about the same time, there is no fuse that has gone bad. The bulbs are not replacable without the use of a soldering iron.
