Change Engine Oil Light

So, I just changed my oil for the second time that I've owned this truck and now I am getting the change oil light on the gauge cluster within 250 miles of the oil change. I put mobil 1 in and use a mobil 1 filter. I have heard the myth that switching to synthetic after years of dino oil may dislodge some of the gunk in the engine. I switched to mobil 1 at 74K. I've checked the oil level and it is good and the filter isn't leaking or loose. So, do I need to drop another $50 and change it all or maybe a new filter?

Can anyone tell me where to get oil analysis done, just in case.

Ahh, grasshopper, you assign too much smartness to the GM engineers. They are not examining your oil. They are only looking at how many miles, and how many startups, have gone by since the Oil Life Monitor was reset.

 

You must reset your own oil life monitor. I cannot do that for you.

ps - turn the key to the on position, but not running... Pump the gas pedel all the way to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds and it should say reset on your dash.

That would be really nice if it actually monitored the oil instead of just being a calculator.

You must use your mind to create the sitar, grasshopper. Then you must also use your mind to create the sitar player and the lovely snake charmer with the flute. Now look at the sitar player. Stop looking at the snake charmer! Look at the sitar player! Do they look like they know Sweet Home Alabama? In that you have your answer.
