Thinking of some mods for my 1500

Hey guys I lurk here a lot and have just traded my 03 sonoma crewcab for a 06 chevrolet 1500 with the 5.3 and tow package. I tow a 14ft and a 19ft enclosed motorcycle trailer. Here is my qusetion. I am thinking of putting some aftermarket wheels and maybe lowereing the back with shackles to get it even front to back. Will the shackles affect my towing? Havent seen a post on this so I thought I would ask.

Might want to find a low-riders forum for this question. I have not heard of lowering a rear end for towing.

Most people crank up the torsion bars to even out the ride height. There has been miles and miles of discussion on the subject. If you do a search , you'll find plenty to read about.

If you level the truck-when you tow it will not be level! The reason the front is 1-2" lower is so when you tow, the weight of the trailer at the hitch will force the rear down an 1" or so!!!

 

If you want to level but still tow you will have to go with an adjustable suspension like airbags.
