1st race

Well I got my 1st race in. Did not go as well as I hoped. Didn't go as bad as it could have. With 2 set's of hot laps (10 laps total) 1 12 lap heat i never got the car adjusted correctly. When I tested last week I was loose on all runs. Last night I was tight tight tight. Should've adjusted the track bar but BRAIN FART and new guy jitters kept me from actually thinking.

 

I finished last in my heat or 4th. And well I spun twice on my own and got sent to the pits in the A main. This was after 2 other cars had went out so I placed 6th in my first race. They inverted the line-up so I started outside pole (see pic) The guy inside I easily beat to tun one. He spun in one and we restarted with me still on the outside. I pulled him the next guy and pretty much walked away. At about lap 6 the car just stopped working. It started pushing so bad on lap 8 I had to slow to almost a stop to keep from hitting the wall. Got passed by three running in a group and spun on 10 by myself. Just lost it trying to turn it with the go pedal. Started at the rear and got to 4th and spun again coming out of two. Had it pegged wheels cranked hard left headin for the wall and all of a sudden it snapped left Then back around to the right. Jack-up my starter on that one. Let off the brake (when it was safe) and rolled the starter backward's and fubared it. Oh well that's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Sounds like a ton of fun. Just think, over time you will get better and things should start moving along. It's amazing how first time jitters can really cloud ones head.

Yeah it's a blast. Although the jacked up starter cost me $165 and missed this week cause theres not one in town. I also purchesed a "starter saver" for $48 so I don't do this again. I gotta slow down when my ride's not handleing right. Oh well 7 more day's till the next race.

Well I had my first race of the season last night, dirt street stock. Last year was my first season ever racing. 18 cars showed up last night I finished 5th in my heat which put me starting 10th in the feature, worked my way up to 5th in the feature when a caution came out. I thought that would be to my advantage because I had been battling for 5th for a few laps and the 4th place car had got a few car lengths on me, so it was going to put me right on his bumper. I had to stop under the caution for them to get a car off the track so I pushed the clutch in and it went to the floor...I even looked down to see if my foot was on the pedal, and it was... Just had to take it in to the pits, the first diagnosis at the track was a hole in the hose going from the master cylinder to the slave, turns out today its the slave cylinder thats bad...thats the way it goes though!

I didn't get to race last weekend due to waiting on a starter. This week I got 3rd. Actually finished this one. Took it easy until half way then cranked it up a bit. Unfortunatly so did the front 2. I got to them but it was too late. Still wicked fun. Got some videos I got to get up. Got one of a car spinning in front of me. He told me later my grill had a couple of bugs on it.(he got a real good look) There was 2 wrecks. I was a part of 1 and the other happened at the same time. Guy cut me off and hit my right front. Cost him a starter. He got some air. The other a guy cut towards the pits and cut off his team mate. He climbed the wall and tore off the right front. Videos to come.
