Newbe to GMC

Just sayin Hi! Took me 19 years of owning Ford trucks before I switched. I know, "what took you so long". Now keep in mind before I go on, that I love this truck! Funny thing happened on the way home from the dealer. Bought the truck, a 1998 GMC K1500 Club Cab Long Bed with 5.7L and 114,000m, in New Hampshire (meaning no warranty or lemon law) and on the 35 mile drive home the alternator went 2 miles from my home, OK fixed that no problem. I'm glad it happened sooner than later since I bought the truck to tow my camper and would rather have it stuck at home. Second day I pull the trailer out to the street to level the hitch and the brake pedal goes to the floor. Yup, brake line. Again, at home, fixed that too. Same day, putting the trailer back, loud whining from the gas tank and truck stops. Yup, fuel pump. OK I'm thinking blessing in disguise, get the bugs out of a used vehicle (wifes thinking I got a lemon) before camping.

Question time. After replacing the fuel pump assembly (used from a 4.3L) the fuel level always reads 1/2 tank higher than what I have. Do i need calibrating or pull it out and replace with my old sending unit?

Thanks, and yes I still love this truck over my Fords!
